5 Things to do with your Halloween Candy Surplus

November 5, 2018

Trick or Treating is ALWAYS so much fun! My kids look forward to their huge buckets of candy every year. When they finish trick or treating, we combine everyone's candy into a 'communal candy bowl'. They are so proud of themselves, and I usually end up staring at it days later thinking, "What in the world are we going to do with all of this candy?!". Here are 5 helpful things to do with the candy... other than hiding your share!

- Treats for Troops-

This organization allows children to donate their candy to veterans here at home, as well as they make candy care packages for soldiers overseas. For an address to send candy to click here. There is a receipt for a tax deductible donation as well.

-Ronald McDonald House Charities-

You can donate to RMHC, and the candy will go to children and families that are not able to go out trick or treating while they are in the hospital for treatment. Please check your local chapter. Our closest chapter is 795 Gatewood Road, NEAtlanta, Georgia 30329.

-Operation Shoe Box-

This organization helps provide shoe boxes full of treats, goodies, personal items, and small toys to children all over the world for holidays likes Christmas, Easter, etc. They accept individually wrapped, heat-resistant candy. Mail it here:

-Freeze It-

Candy, surprisingly, freezes well. You can always freeze and defrost it later for a cake, brownies, smoothie, or milkshake!
